The Endometriosis Coalition Applauds The Digital Picnic’s Endometriosis Employment Policy

The Endometriosis Coalition is proud to commend The Digital Picnic for their groundbreaking Endometriosis Employment Policy, a significant step forward in supporting employees living with endometriosis.

The Endometriosis Coalition applauds The Digital Picnic’s commitment to creating an inclusive and understanding workplace. This policy sets a powerful precedent for other organisations and highlights the importance of recognising the challenges faced by individuals with chronic health conditions, like Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain.

Some of the supports that The Digital Picnic have introduced include:

💛 Paid endo leave [2 extra days per annum]

💛 Paid leave for medical appointments

💛 Financial support [$500 annually toward surgery/specialist care]

💛 Remote work/flex options for flare-up days

💛 Practical workplace adjustments (quiet spaces, heat packs, task modifications, etc.)

The Digital Picnic, CEO, Cherie Conan explains:

We did it because we’ve seen—up close—what it’s like to work through one of the most painful conditions in the world , and still show up to perform.

But just because people can push through pain, doesn’t mean they should have to.

We also know this: policies that centre care aren't just good for humans — they're good for business too. They attract incredible people. They foster loyalty. They say, “We see you,” and mean it.

Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting millions worldwide, causing debilitating pain, fatigue, and other symptoms that can significantly impact a person's ability to work. Despite its prevalence, it remains largely misunderstood and under-diagnosed, leading to a lack of support in many professional environments.

Jess Taylor, Chair of The Endometriosis Coalition stated:

“The Digital Picnic's Endometriosis Employment Policy demonstrates a clear understanding of these challenges and offers practical support, fostering an environment where employees can thrive despite their condition. This initiative aligns perfectly with the Endometriosis Coalition's mission to advocate for better understanding, diagnosis, and support for those living with endometriosis and pelvic pain.”

The Endometriosis Coalition encourages other businesses to follow The Digital Picnic's lead and implement similar policies that prioritise employee well-being and inclusivity. By doing so, we can collectively work towards a more equitable and supportive professional landscape for all.

The Endometriosis Coalition regularly shares webinars to inform the endometriosis and pelvic pain community about updates in the sector. To see the full video from Digital Picnic CEO, Cherie Clonan please head to www.endometriosiscoaliton.org.au or Endometriosis Coalition social media pages.
